What is an alternative to Vultr, DigitalOcean or Linode that takes crypto and no ID?

What the three mainstream clouds charge in New York, Dallas, Los Angeles, London, Amsterdam and Frankfurt, what they write about crypto and identity checks, and the hosts that take crypto with no ID at each size.

Quick answer

What is an alternative to Vultr, DigitalOcean or Linode that takes crypto and no ID?

As of 3 November 2026, Linode takes no crypto, DigitalOcean calls its stablecoin option limited, and Vultr’s billing FAQ asks for a card or PayPal to register. In the VPS With Crypto survey, 34 hosts took crypto with no ID at signup and sold a comparable VPS in at least one of the same six cities: 2 vCPU / 4 GB / 80 GB started at $8.00 (Advin Servers, Los Angeles), against $20.00 at Vultr and $24.00 at Linode or DigitalOcean.

Can you pay Vultr, DigitalOcean or Linode with crypto, and do they check ID?

Only Vultr names the coins it takes; DigitalOcean limits its stablecoin option, and Linode takes no crypto. Each provider’s own documents, read on 3 November 2026, say:

  • Vultr accepts nine coins through BitPay: BTC, BCH, ETH, DOGE, PAX, BUSD, LTC, USDC and GUSD. Its signup guide sends a new account to add a payment method “for verification purposes”, with a small deposit for non-card methods. Its billing FAQ, read the day before, requires a card or PayPal to register for services, and its terms reserve an account verification process.
  • DigitalOcean accepts stablecoins from “over 400 wallets”, with access described as currently limited by customer and location. Crypto setup asks for a name and an address and places a one-time $25.00 authorization, credited to the account. Virtual and prepaid cards are refused.
  • Akamai (Linode) takes no crypto: cards, Google Pay and PayPal, or a check, ACH or wire through support. Signup verifies a phone number by SMS and takes a card or PayPal, which it says is used to verify your identity; some accounts go to manual review.

What do they charge, and which crypto hosts with no ID cost less?

At every size, the first-ranked crypto host with no ID check cost less than Vultr, DigitalOcean and Linode: at least $2.00 less at the entry size, and at least $68.50 less at 8 vCPU / 16 GB. Vultr and Linode charge the same in all six cities, DigitalOcean the same in its four. The table compares each cloud’s smallest plan that reaches a VPS With Crypto plan’s minimum, so from 1 vCPU / 3 GB / 40 GB up the clouds’ first match is already a 2 vCPU / 4 GB plan. In New York, where all three clouds sell, InterServer sold 2 vCPU / 6 GB / 120 GB SSD for $9.00; the clouds’ first plan above 5 GB, 4 vCPU / 8 GB, cost $40.00 to $48.00.

Two cautions. Vultr’s $2.50 IPv6-only and $3.50 plans exist among these cities only in New Jersey, and they sit under the 1 GB minimum used here. And the crypto hosts bill a month at a time or longer, where Vultr and DigitalOcean bill by usage up to a monthly cap.

Monthly USD, before tax. What changes when you leave a big cloud?

You pay less and give up some flexibility: no hourly billing, no traffic pool shared across servers and, at some hosts, fewer self-service tools. Most small crypto hosts sell a fixed monthly plan with its own traffic quota. Payment is prepaid in crypto rather than charged to a card after use. The ID question moves from signup to written triggers, such as refunds or risk scores, listed host by host on Which VPS hosts accept crypto without ID, and when do they ask for it anyway?

For VPS With Crypto, the trade-offs are written down:

  • Billing: You pay for a VPS ahead of time from your crypto balance, for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months, chosen at checkout. With auto-renew on, the same length is charged again at the price written on your order, and you can switch the next renewal to another length from the dashboard. If the balance cannot cover a renewal, the VPS stops when its paid time runs out and its disk is kept for 7 days before it is wiped.
  • Setup: A team member sets up every VPS by hand after your payment confirms, within 24 hours; your dashboard follows the build and then shows the IP address.
  • Server actions: Reboot, reinstall and delete are requests you send from the dashboard, carried out by a person. A reinstall erases the disk.
  • Mail: Outbound port 25 is closed on every VPS and is not opened on request; send mail through a mail provider on port 465 or 587.
  • Backups: No plan includes backups, so keep your own copy of anything that matters.

What about Hetzner and OVHcloud?

Neither takes crypto. Hetzner has no data centre in the six cities, and OVHcloud reaches four of them only through Local Zones. Hetzner writes that it does not accept cryptocurrencies, and its fraud-prevention page says it may ask for a copy of a government ID or a credit-card prepayment before processing an order, and that registration should not go through a VPN. Its cloud has no location in the six cities: its Nuremberg plans start at $7.28 for 1 vCPU / 1 GB / 20 GB, and its Ashburn plans cost two to three times more.

OVHcloud lists standing orders, cards, PayPal, a prepaid account and transfers. Its smallest plan costs $5.04 in Frankfurt (2 vCPU / 4 GB / 40 GB, no quota on a 500 Mbit/s port), and $6.54 in its New York, Dallas and Los Angeles Local Zones.

Is VPS With Crypto one of these alternatives?

Yes: VPS With Crypto, which publishes this comparison, sells Linux VPS for crypto at a single price per plan across the six cities, from a prepaid balance. No KYC: signing up and paying take no identity document, no selfie, no card and no phone number. You sign in with an account number alone; adding an email is up to you. VPS With Crypto bills by the month or longer, never by the hour, and its vCPU are shared.

It lists stablecoin payments from over 400 wallets, but describes access as currently limited and not available to all customers in all locations. Setup asks for a name and address and places a one-time $25.00 authorization, credited to the account (documentation read 3 November 2026).
